TASN Celebrates Georgia Georgacopulos Lopez for Two Industry Honors
YES Prep Public Schools school nutrition professional recognized by SNA and ANFP
Georgia “Gia” Georgacopulos Lopez of YES Prep Public Schools.
TASN is proud to celebrate Georgia “Gia” Georgacopulos Lopez of YES Prep Public Schools, whose commitment to students and school nutrition has earned recognition from two national professional organizations.
Gia has been recognized by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) as the 2026 Employee of the Year for the Southwest Region and by the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) as the recipient of its 2026 Dining Distinction Award.

Each year, SNA recognizes school nutrition employees, managers and directors for the contributions they make to their students, programs and profession. State-level award recipients advance for consideration at the regional level, with Gia representing Texas among this year’s regional honorees.
The Employee of the Year Award recognizes non-managerial school nutrition employees and considers customer service, creativity, professional development and dedication to the school nutrition profession.

Gia was also selected as ANFP’s 2026 Dining Distinction Award recipient. The award honors an ANFP member who has made a significant contribution to the health and well-being of those they serve while creating an outstanding dining experience through nutrition, presentation, environment and meaningful interactions.
In her role as a Child Nutrition Operations Specialist at YES Prep Public Schools, Gia oversees cafeteria operations across multiple campuses, supports compliance with USDA food program requirements and provides training to staff.
ANFP highlighted Gia’s thoughtful approach to leadership, including taking time to understand existing operations, build trust with cafeteria teams and work collaboratively to strengthen the dining experience for students. Her efforts have contributed to significant increases in both breakfast and lunch participation.
Her work also reflects a commitment to making meal service efficient, welcoming and equitable so that students across YES Prep campuses have access to quality school meals.
