Practical Training for Texas School Nutrition Leaders

The Texas Association for School Nutrition (TASN) Administrative Academy is an in-depth professional development experience for directors, assistant directors, supervisors and other administrative staff working in child nutrition. You’ll strengthen the skills you use to lead your program while learning from experienced instructors and school nutrition peers from across Texas.

What You’ll Learn

Administrative Academy focuses on practical topics that support the day-to-day operation of a strong school nutrition program, including:

  • Employee retention
  • Marketing your program
  • Food service equipment
  • Commodity programs
  • Administrative review
  • Federal meal programs
  • Other school nutrition operational topics

We will add class information and the full Academy schedule as details are finalized.

Registration + Hotel

Registration: $575

Registration includes Academy classes plus breakfast and lunch on each day of instruction. Hotel accommodations are not included.

Hotel Accommodations

  • TASN will have a limited room block available at each host hotel on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If the TASN room block fills, you may still book directly with the hotel if rooms are available. The hotel’s standard rates will apply.
  • Hotel booking links and reservation details will be included in your registration confirmation.

Before You Apply

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in Administrative Academy, you must:

  • Be a current, active TASN member
  • Upload a letter of recommendation from your director or superintendent
  • Meet one of the following:
    • Three years of school food service experience
    • An associate degree plus two years of school food service experience; an unofficial transcript is required
    • A bachelor’s degree in a related field

Have your recommendation letter and, if applicable, your unofficial transcript ready to upload. You cannot submit the application until all required information is complete.
